Alison has taken her love of communication out of the classroom to share in the community by consulting on organizational communication practices, best practices in ethical recruitment and interviewing, as well as designing accessible and engaging online courses that meet QM standards.

As Director of Faculty Development for the Monarch Humanities Internship Academy at Old Dominion University’s College of Arts & Letters, Alison leads faculty training initiatives supported by a $5 million grant from the Mellon Foundation. The Academy equips instructors across the Humanities with practical tools to embed work-based learning across the humanities, building stronger ties between academic and professional pathways. In this role, she creates and delivers faculty development programming that strengthen engagement and supports curricular innovation across departments. Drawing on this expertise, Alison has also consulted with institutions such as the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Department of Communication to expand faculty support for experiential and career-connected learning.

Building on earlier work supporting online course design during the COVID-19 transition, Alison consulted on digital pedagogy and inclusive faculty development for institutions such as Manchester University, Eastern Michigan University, and Washington & Lee University.

Her ongoing focus includes advancing anti-racist teaching practices, supporting inclusive policy development, and coaching educators through curricular change. Alison is also a certified executive coach, committed to fostering reflective, equity-minded leadership in higher education. Alison also works to amplify social advocacy work done in Seattle, WA as well as her home region of Hampton Roads, Virginia.
